According to the notification from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), effective from 3 August 2026, all sea‑freight cargo exported to Kenya must have the corresponding Kenya Import Pre‑declaration Certificate (also known as Kenya ACD) processed at the port of loading before shipment. The shipper must obtain the Kenya ACD number prior to loading and have it shown on the Bill of Lading, so that the destination authorities can carry out full cargo supervision and risk control. Per Kenya Customs regulations, the original ACD must be applied for and issued before the vessel arrives at the port; otherwise, overdue penalties will apply. Please read the following application documents and procedures carefully.
Required documents:
1.ACD application form
- Bill of lading
3.Packing list
4.Commercial invoice
5.Export customs declaration
Application procedure:
1.The applicant sends the required documents to our email: support@globalferi.com.
2.Upon receipt, we will calculate the costs and issue a formal payment note.
3.The applicant arranges the transfer and provides the bank slip for our finance team to verify.
4.We review the submitted documents and guide amendments for any non‑compliant files. Once the documents are correct, we issue a draft for the applicant’s confirmation.
5.The applicant provides the final original Bill of Lading; we then upload it to the system and submit to the destination approval authority for final review.
6.After approval, the original ACD certificate (in PDF format) will be emailed to the applicant, who shall forward it to the consignee and the shipping company at the destination port.
Important notes:
- The original Kenya ACD must be applied for and issued before the vessel arrives at the port; otherwise, overdue penalties will apply.
- Once the original Kenya ACD has been approved, no amendments or re‑issuance are permitted.
